A vole is a small rodent resembling a mouse but with a stouter body, a shorter hairy tail, a slightly rounder head, smaller ears, and eyes.
The Meadow Vole is an herbivore, feeding mainly on the grasses that are abundant in its environment. The meadow vole can reproduce multiple times each year. Average females have between one and five litters in a year, producing about five pups in each litter. Though meadow voles reproduce very frequently and produce many offspring, they have a relatively short lifespan compared to other mammals.
Vole Control Strategies By APC in Calgary
Our mice exterminator has two control strategies most commonly used, but we, of course, can adjust our control methods to the needs of our customer.
If this is the first time you have to deal with this pest problem and it is a very isolated problem, i.e., none of your neighbors have any signs of voles the, and there is limited damage of the lawn, but you do have holes along driveway sidewalk patio, etc. In this case, a onetime application of poison bait applied directly into the burrows may be sufficient.
About 14 days after the application we would ask you to cover the holes from the voles with some dirt, if the holes remain closed, we can be confident that they are all dead. If some holes open again you may call us back for one follow-up application at no extra charge.Cost: $265 for most city properties.
If the problem is more extensive, we suggest a more preventive approach that has proven very successful over the years in eliminating vole damage to lawns, trees, and shrubbery.
Bait All Burrows
As with the previous service, we would bait all the burrows initially to ensure fast control of the population. Then we would install rodent control stations for preventive control. Most commonly we install three stations. The stations baited with a control substance will eliminate any invading voles throughout the year and thus prevent further damage.
The Cost
The Stations are locked and will be anchored for security. Absolute Pest Control will return before the onset of winter and refill all the stations to ensure that no damage from voles will occur over the winter month. COST: $345.00 included are two exterior bait stations a value of $79.00 and two service visits.
The above descriptions are just samples to give you some idea of the cost involved to gain control and MAINTAIN control of the voles in your yard. Our vole control technicians, however, can adjust the service details, to precisely what is required for your situations. We don’t believe in Cookie Cutter templates that are supposed to work for every situation. That is why we enable our pest control technicians to provide you with the service you need.

More Info About Voles And How Our Vole Exterminators in Can Help
Prairie and Meadow Voles are heavy-set rodents with small eyes and ears and greyish brown fur. They can multiply very quickly, with females producing up to 70 offspring each year through multiple litters. Colonies can grow into the hundreds or thousands if left unattended. Some of the most severe damage occurs during the winter months, and their presence often goes unnoticed because their activity is hidden by the snow. Once the snow melts, you will see the damage caused by the voles. Whole patches of your lawn may be missing; the grass has been chewed apart, tracks and runways have been formed throughout. When the snow disappears, voles will move to other means of protection such as underneath the deck, shed, driveways, and walkways.
Only Treat With Propert Procedures
If not treated with proper vole control procedures, they will continue to damage your property even if the evidence is not as clear because the grass will continue to grow and hide their activity. However, the voles will continue to dig holes.
Our Calgary Vole Extermination Procdeures
The most effective way to rid your property of voles is to use poison. This type of product is not available to non-licensed individuals or at local stores. If you suspect that voles are destroying your property, let Absolute Vole Control help. When our technician arrives, they will carry out a full inspection of the exterior of your property. A detailed report on any evidence we find will be created and we will plan our control program accordingly.
Bait is Useful
The bait is a useful way to gain control over the voles. However, since it is not protected, it can become wet if not ingested quickly after placement.
To ensure that the voles have a chance to encounter the poison, bait stations will also be placed around the property. This method will ensure that the bait remains dry and invading voles from adjacent properties are controlled as well. We have a simple black bait station and a realistic rock landscape option. Three black exterior bait stations will be provided during the service; however, you can upgrade to the landscape bait stations for a small fee.
Permanent Vole Removal For Calgary Homeowners
All the work we complete and the deficiencies we find that are crucial for maintaining full control of your property are noted in our service report. The service report and invoice are directly e-mailed to you from the technician before leaving the property. A follow-up service will be scheduled in 30 to 45 days. During that appointment, the vole exterminator may also recommend a maintenance schedule to ensure a vole free environment and a third appointment will be booked before the winter season.
